Jessica Hall, Studio Director
Jessica Hall has been in the dance industry for over 25 years, with extensive training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical and Hip Hop. She and Ms. Sarah opened Dance Avenue in 2006, when Ms. Jessica was just 19 years old. Ms. Jessica has choreographed and taught numerous regional and national award-winning competitive pieces, often earning Overall Placement and Judge’s Choice honors. Her past students have gone on to be dance teachers, performers and business professionals. She and Ms. Sarah are past recipients of the Marjory Perry Spirit Award from Dance Makers Inc. and the Studio Spirit Award from Dupree Dance. Outside of the studio, Ms. Jessica has loaned her talents to local High School dance teams and productions. She is also a traveling judge for a major dance competition. Ms. Jessica holds a business degree from Baker College and is always looking to gain more training to develop her students. Ms. Jessica is married with two children, and she is very proud of her wonderful and supportive family.
Sarah Sieloff, Studio Director
Sarah Sieloff has over 30 years of experience in the dance industry. Her expertise lies in Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical and Jazz, with extensive training in many other dance styles. Her choreography has earned numerous regional and national awards, including Overall Placement and Judge’s Choice honors. Her past students have gone on to be instructors, stage performers and business professionals. Along with Ms. Jessica, she is a past recipient of the Marjory Perry Spirit Award from Dance Makers Inc. and the Studio Spirit Award from Dupree Dance. Ms. Sarah studied both Dance and Communications at Wayne State University, where she was a member of WSU’s award-winning Dance Company. She also had the pleasure of dancing Swan Lake with Detroit’s Ballet Renaissance. Other accreditations include membership in the Michigan Council of Dance and training in New York City. She opened Dance Avenue with Jessica Hall in 2006. Ms. Sarah is married with one handsome child and a houseful of cuddly pets.
Jessica Renshaw, Assistant Director
Jessica Renshaw joined the Dance Avenue family in 2009. She boasts over 25 years in the dance industry. Ms. Jay specializes in Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Lyrical, with a knowledgeable background in Modern and Contemporary. Prior to instructing at Dance Avenue, Ms. Jay spent seven years teaching and assistant teaching at Freedom Danz Xpressionz of Detroit. She is a former figure skating champion and former Assistant Director and Coach of the Southfield Civic Center Sport Arena’s Figure Skating Basic Skills Program. She serves as both a Dance Avenue instructor and as our Assistant Director. Her competitive pieces consistently earn regional and national acclaim, collecting awards in Overall Placement, Judge’s Choice and special categories. Ms. Jay is happily married with two sweet doggies.
Angela Henderson, Office Manager
Angela Henderson joined the Dance Avenue faculty in 2007. She has over 30 years of dance, performance and teaching experience. She specializes in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical and Musical Theater, with an extensive background in Modern, Fitness and Pilates. She has choreographed pieces that have garnered regional and national recognition, including Overall Placement and Judge’s Choice competitive awards. Ms. Angela graduated with honors from Wayne State University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism with a Minor in Dance. Ms. Angela is a past Associate Editor for WDET Detroit Public Radio’s Art and Culture desk, where she covered many dance and arts-related topics. She was a Marketing Director in the Retirement Industry for 10 years. Aside from teaching, Ms. Angela is our Office Manager and Web Designer. She is very happily married with two wonderful children and a big cozy cat.
Ciara Yarrington, Assistant Manager
Ciara Yarrington joined the Dance Avenue faculty in 2015. She held the position of Studio Intern while training at our studio. Ms. Ciara has also interned with the Motor City Tap Festival. Ms. Ciara is a former member of To Sangana Dance Company and Monica Brady-Barnard’s Squared Choreography Collective. She has performed at The Detroit Institute of Art as Principal Dancer for the Body Cartography Project, for which she is also a member of the guest artist residency program. Ms. Ciara has trained under and danced in pieces for artists including Biba Bell and Lisa LaMarre. She performed at the 2016 Apple Awards, honoring Garth Fagan as a recipient. Ms. Ciara is a student at Wayne State University, pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Dance and Performance, with Pre-Physician Assistant Studies. She is employed by Henry Ford Hospital, Main Campus. Ms. Ciara loves spending time with her family and friends and adding to her gnome collection. She credits her mother and father for their unconditional love and support, understanding dance in its truest form.
Cynthia Rogers, Instructor
Cynthia Rogers joined the Dance Avenue staff in 2006. She has over 35 years of experience as a dance educator. Ms. Cindy’s performing credits include membership as both a dancer and choreographer for the Dearborn Civic Theatre, tenure as a member of the Fairlane Ballet Company and experience as a cruise line dancer. She has enjoyed performing nationwide in the US, as well as abroad in Spain and the Caribbean. She still performs annually in local productions of Tchaikovsky’s Christmas classic “The Nutcracker.” Ms. Cindy is a Kent State graduate, having been certified by the University’s Teacher Training School. She also holds a teaching certificate from the Cecchetti Council of America. Ms. Cindy is proudly married with two children and two loving and talented grandchildren.
Amanda Barger, Instructor
Amanda Barger became a Dance Avenue instructor in 2013. She has enjoyed over 15 years of success in the dance industry as a student, competitive dancer and choreographer. Ms. Amanda primarily focuses her skills into Lyrical, Contemporary and Hip Hop, but she is also a talented dancer and teacher of Ballet, Jazz and Tap. In 2015 she joined our Competitive Team’s coaching staff, with all of her pieces earning Overall Placement awards throughout the season. Her work ultimately received choreography honors at Dupree’s National Competition, all in Ms. Amanda’s rookie teaching year on the team. She has performed at local events including Detroit’s Sidewalk Festival. She holds a career as a General Merchandise Sales Associate at Motor City Harley Davidson. Ms. Amanda loves spending time with friends, painting and reading anything she can get her hands on.
Kristie Begley, Instructor
Kristie Begley joined Dance Avenue as an instructor in 2016. She has been training and performing for over 18 years and has four years of studio teaching experience. Her specialties are Lyrical and Hip Hop, with a great depth of knowledge in various other styles. Ms. Kristie holds a degree in fine arts from Henry Ford College. Upon graduation, she was invited to attend a summer-long intensive at International Dance Academy in Los Angeles. Ms. Kristie is a former member of Detroit Pride, the Detroit Lions Cheerleading Squad. She performed at every home game as well as at The Fillmore and Motor City Casino. She served as the team’s ambassador and was selected to appear on the official Detroit Pride Cheerleaders poster. Feature film credits include a role as a background dancer in the Lifetime movie “America” and a role alongside Miley Cyrus in “LOL.” In her free time, Ms. Kristie enjoys fulfilling her shopping addiction and adding to her shoe collection.
Cherie Shown, Instructor
Cherie Shown joined the Dance Avenue team in 2016. She has over 20 years of dance experience, specializing in Ballet (Cecchetti Method), Jazz and Acrobatics. She is a former member of the Plymouth Metro Dance Company and Henry Ford’s Full Circle Dance Company. Ms. Cherie has 12 years of figure skating training and is a three time State Champion. For 13 years she has served the City of Southgate as a figure skating Coach for both competitive compulsory teams and individuals. She also teaches off-ice dance classes to skating students to improve body positions, flexibility and stamina. Ms. Cherie is a Promotional Model and Dancer, performing at events nationwide. She has loaned her talents to celebrities including Kid Rock, Jamie Foxx, Demi Moore and Gerard Butler. She also holds a successful career as a Regional Property Manager in the real estate industry. Ms. Cherie is a talented painter whose work is available by commission. She spends her free time with her supportive family, is the proud aunt of adorable 4 year-old twins and is a doting dog mom to her beloved husky mix.
Stephanie Knight, Instructor
Alexis Guerra, Instructor
Since her student days at Dance Avenue, Alexis Guerra has remained busy in the dance industry. She is a member of Detroit’s Next Level Dance Company, performing Hip Hop pieces around the metro Detroit area at various festivals and events. In Summer 2017, Alexis traveled to Los Angeles with Next Level to perform for World of Dance. Alexis also dances with Melodic Nocturne Dance Tribe, performing in showcases in and around Detroit and Chicago. She is the former coach of Woodhaven High School’s Dance Team, guiding them to 1st Place victories and gaining senior student invitations to join the Universal Dance Association (UDA) staff. Alexis currently attends the University of Michigan-Dearborn, working on her degree in Business Administration.
